These 50’
airslide hoppers are tan with black lettering and run on 100-ton
Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Built by the General American Transportation
Co (GATC) for several of CSX’s constituent roads – Seaboard
System, Chessie, and C&O, they were renumbered as the series
203402-203448. These cars were specifically designed for use with
fine-grained commodities, like powdered sugar, that could settle
en-route making unloading difficult. |
