Seeing the need for a fire prevention education tool, Smokey commissioned this Special Edition 36’ riveted steel caboose with offset cupola. It was built in February 1962 and in June 2000 it was repainted to this Pullman green with orange and yellow flame paint scheme. The lettering is in white and the Smokey logo is in browns. Smokey, a black bear cub, was orphaned by a forest fire in the Capitan Mountains of New Mexico in 1950.
