This 40’ hy-cube
was one of 40 cars rebuilt at the SP’s SAC Shops in 1965. This
sub-series, 659008-659047, is equipped with DF-2 loaders and
rated at a 5936 cubic ft. capacity. These excess height cars
were assigned to unique appliance loading on the Penn Central
at Evansville, IND. 12 cars remained in the 1985 ORER. All were
out by the 1992 ORER.
