#605000 is part of eleven black 60’ excess height box cars built by Greenville Steel Car Co., July of 1973, with rivet sides and double plug doors. The white band across the top portion of the ends specifically designates this car as an excess height car. All lettering is white including the bold gothic ‘NW’ logo which first appeared in 1971 on the road’s freight. The number 322 stenciled near the reporting mark is known as the Shippers Code Number. In 1997, one of these N&W cars was seen coupled to another 60’ excess height car: DTI #25924 (see product #MTL102,010), both still in their original paint schemes.
