This 50’ steel side, 15
panel, fixed end gondola has a black body with large white “ACL”
letters, “Atlantic Coast Line” lettering and runs on black Barber®
roller bearing trucks. One of 505 gondolas built for the ACL at
Pullman-Standard’s Bessemer, Alabama plant, 98588 was used for
hauling a variety of loads over the many years it served on the
line. This series of gondolas would be the last that the railroad
would buy and were worked hard during their long life on the ACL.
