This 100
ton three-bay hopper with rib sides and coal load is painted black
with white herald and lettering. It was built in June 1968 by
Bethlehem Steel, serviced in July 1972, and runs on Barber Roller
Bearing trucks. It’s decorated in block lettering and is one of
200 cars in the series 1001-1200. In 1823 New York State passed
an act incorporating the “The President, Mangers and Company of
the Delaware and Hudson Canal Co.” and in 1926 was granted authorization
to build a railroad. The D&H has called itself “America’s
oldest continually operated transportation company”, operating
from 1829 until its purchase by the Canadian Pacific railroad
in 1991. |
