Heavyweight Depressed Center Flat Car w/Heavy Generator Load

This heavyweight depressed-center flat car with heavy generator load is one of only two class P-30 flats delivered to the Baltimore & Ohio railroad. It was built in January 1953 by the General Steel Castings Corporation at Dubois, PA. In September 1969 it was serviced—also at Dubois. It is painted black with white gothic lettering. This configuration of flat car was designed for carrying heavy loads, such as the heavy generator, which is included with this release. This 250,000 lb capacity flat is equipped with six-wheel Commonwealth trucks, which were designed to carry heavy loads at high speeds.
