This 56’ general service tank car is painted
SP dark lark grey, with red ends and side wings, and is lettered
in
white. It was serviced in May 1974 and runs on Barber® roller
bearing trucks. This was SP’s fi rst and only
experiment with the tank car fuel tender concept. SP 700 was not
successful with the fi ve modifi ed GP40-2s that
ran with this tank car and were subsequently placed back into the
freight pool. |
