In November 1988, the American Car and Foundry, Milton, Pennsylvania, built 85 of these 56’ general service tank cars for the Archer Daniels Midland Transportation Company. Number ADMX 29866 is painted black with a light blue and white ADM logo and white lettering. It is designated as class 111-A-100-W-1, which, in part, indicates that it is a non-coiled and non-insulated tank car. The red squares at each bolster are AAR Standard markings, which identify the car’s lifting points. Class W-1 tank cars generally carry such commodities as gasoline or vegetable oils.
