| This 56’ tanker is painted black
with white lettering on sides and ends. The ‘O’ in the Southern
herald is filled with green, a practice of Southern Railway from
1969 to 1982. It is a class DOT 111 A-100-W-1 general service tank
car built by American Car & Foundry in February 1974. It runs
on black Barber® roller bearing trucks. Cars like this were
generally used to ship diesel fuel to locations around the Southern
system and could often be found running in regular freight trains. |
