This 89’ closed auto rack
is painted yellow and blue with aluminum roof. The placards bear the Rock Island
herald and the car is lettered in both black and white. The ends have white
excess height markings. It was built in 1968, rebuilt in July 1977, and runs
on Barber® Roller Bearing trucks. ETTX 820261 carries a a tri-level auto rack
painted in “The ROCK” blue scheme. As was usual with tri-level
closed auto racks, the flat cars were built by a car builder and the racks were
built by an outside agency. The rack is stenciled “When Empty Return
to CONRAIL, Detroit, MI.” Tri-level racks continued to be used predominantly
for automobiles, while the bi-level racks were primarily used for light trucks
and vans. ack
