This 40' USRA Steel Box Car with Single Door is from a 400 car fleet built in October of 1926 by Bethlehem Steel. It was painted mineral red and had white lettering applied on the sides and ends when serviced in Elizabeth Port July 1956. It was then that the 1950s Jersey Central Lines logo was stenciled. Equipped with 4-6-4 Youngstown doors and plate ends and end mount brake wheel, this class of XMG car was confined almost entirely to railroads in the northeast. These were still around in the 60s, with their low height giving them unrestricted interchange potential.
