This
70 heavyweight horse car is yellow with grey roof and
red lettering and runs on 6-wheel passenger trucks. Built in
1927, these cars were very popular in the 1930s for transporting
horses to and from horse races. Union Pacific horse cars held
up to twenty-four horses in separate stalls with feed and water
troughs. This horse car ended its service as an express baggage
car in the late 1960s.
