F&CC was a narrow gauge line operating from 1894 to 1912. This 30' box car was one of 200 cars the F&CC purchased from American Car and Foundry in 1899. The road decorated #540 box car red with white lettering on sides and ends. The 'Gold Belt Line' logo is in yellow. A flash flood in the summer of 1912 destroyed much of the 40-mile F&CC mainline and it was dismantled in 1915 with most of its 200 cars (500-699) were sold. Nevada-California-Oregon Railway purchased 50 cars with #540 probably being one of them. (Road #588 was purchased by the Montana Southern in 1918 and became road number MS 500 (see MTL#15110).)
