This 30' box car with single door is painted box car red with white lettering. The Austin & North Western began as a narrow gauge line in 1882, running from Austin to Burnet, Texas. The line owed its existance to a decision by Texas polititians to build their new capitol, in Austin, out of pink granite. In May 1888, a line to Marble Falls, where the granite was acquired, was completed. By 1891 the railroad had a fleet of 41 box cars, and by 1892 the road was converted to standard gauge.
