#861, a 40' standard box car with single door is from a seven PS-1 car fleet, Lot #8105C built by Pullman Standard in April of 1953. Painted box car red with black ends, the white band across the car's sides and Superior door carry the slogan 'The Hoosier Line' (lettered in black). The CI&L was the major line between Chicago and the Ohio River. In 1956, the line's official name changed to the Monon nickname with MON reporting marks. After the Monon merged with the Louisville and Nashville in 1971, a few of the Monon cars received L&N paint but many wore their original paint into the 1980s.
