Western Pacific’s passenger route went through the scenic Feather River Canyon so they adopted the slogan “The Feather River Route” and applied it to their freight equipment. In September 1952, Pullman-Standard put two 40' standard box cars with single Superior doors on WP track to test a new cushion underframe they had developed. The cars came to the WP in solid orange with black lettering and a large silver feather as well as small silver feathers running along the car sides. This is the last of only two road numbers in this scheme.
