Pressed Steel Car Company built this 40’ standard box car with single door in September 1941. It is painted black with white lettering and orange Youngstown doors. This paint scheme was applied in March 1956 when the car was serviced at the railroad’s Readville shop. This is one of only a few New Haven cars that received the oversized ‘N over H’ herald. The 120,000 lb capacity box car was equipped with Bettendorf trucks. The NYNH&H was the product of the 1872 consolidation of the New York and New Haven and the New Haven and Hartford Railroads.
