In November and December 1941, the American Car & Foundry delivered 25 of these 40' standard box cars with single door to the CStPM&O where they were used in baggage express. They were painted Pullman green with dulux gold lettering and logo. The cars were numbered from 20000 to 20048 in even numbers only. The 100,000 lb capacity cars were delivered with Allied full-cushion trucks, but were refitted with Commonwealth trucks between 1946 and 1952. The slogan, ‘Route of the 400’ infers CStPM&O’s association with parent company Chicago and North Western—whose slogan that is.
