This 40' standard box car with plug door was built in November 1950 by Pacific Car & Foundry, It is painted blue and stenciled in white and red. Hauling paper products in summer and potatoes in winter, this 80,000 lb capacity workhorse was kept running the year round. It was equipped with insulation and a heating system to keep its cargo of potatoes warm in the cold of winter. The heating equipment was installed outside the car under the plug door and included a gauge for measuring interior temperature. BAR's mainline ran from Aroostook, Maine's northernmost county, to northern Maine Junction, near Bangor.
