One of a 1000 car fleet, this 40' standard box car with double doors was built in November 1947. It is painted box car red and lettered in white on sides and ends. The identifying Lot, #760-B, is indicated above the NYC System herald. Equipped with special automobile loading racks, the inside height, 10’ 6”, and the capacity, 3898 cu ft, listed with the reporting marks, represents the area available with racks in position. The NYC was the largest of the eastern trunk systems from the standpoint of mileage, and second only to rival Pennsylvania in revenue.
