Montana Rail Link took over portions of Burlington Northern on October 31, 1987. In anticipation of that move, BN repainted this 50' rib side box car with single door and without roofwalk in MRL blue with white lettering, and red and white logo. The box car red on the door was later changed to MRL blue as well. The ‘Flying W’ symbol is the logo of MRL’s parent company, the Washington Corporation, owned by Dennis Washington. MRL hauls forest products, grain, cement and other products along nearly 450 miles of track in Montana, Idaho, and Washington.
