CB&Q built this 50' standard box car with single door at their Havelock, Nebraska shops in August 1941. It is part of a 1,750-car fleet that was painted box car red with white lettering. One side carries the slogan ‘Everywhere West’ and on the other, ‘Way of the Zephyrs.’ The 100,000 lb capacity car was built with Allied full-cushion trucks, which provided a smooth ride at high speeds and reduced the costs in freight damage. The Burlington traces its history to February 14, 1855, and in July 1, 1901 Great Northern and Northern Pacific purchased 98 percent of CB&Q’s stock.
