Painted vermillion with white lettering on sides and ends, this class SM single deck 40' despatch stock car has an inside length of 40'4" and a cubic capacity of 3098 cubic feet. It was built in August of 1927, serviced in February of 1971, and was seen working well into the 70's. This car, one in a series of 200, was originally an outside-braced box car which was rebuilt in 1958. GN had much of its track in cattle country and rostered large numbers of stock cars.
