Quebec Central Railway, an old subsidiary of Canadian Pacific, built this 40’ despatch stock car in the 1910s. The class SM livestock-hauler was part of the QC fleet. In 1912, the CP signed a 999-year lease, making the QC a part of their rail network. Fifty years later, in August 1962, at the Weston shops in Winnipeg, the car was serviced, reweighed, renumbered from 2266 to C.P. 276932, and repainted in this CP scheme of box car red with white lettering.
