This 40’ double-sheathed wood box car with 1-1/2 doors runs on black Bettendorf trucks. In 1925 when this car was built the paint scheme for GN box cars was mineral red with a 72” round, front facing “Rocky” herald to the right of the door featuring the “See America First, Glacier National Park” lettering. In late 1956, the GN car color was changed to Vermillion Red and many cars sported the new slanted Great Western Lettering style that was common on general service cars until at least 1962 when the Glacier Green began to be seen. Rebuilt in 1957, this car displays this experimental paint scheme.
