Built October 1951, this group of 500 50’ fishbelly gondolas, with drop ends, wears the box car red with white lettering paint scheme. The road name, inside an elliptical oval, makes up the logo. After 1935, the word ‘Lines’ in the logo was changed to ‘System’. Late 1958, the box car red scheme was changed to jade green. In 1967, NYC and Pennsylvania merged to form the Penn Central. Freight business was taken over by Conrail on April 1, 1976.
