Smokey™ uses this 34' wood-sheathed caboose with straight cupola to bring up the rear of his maintenance of way train. It is painted Forest Service green with alumi-num roof and ends. The lettering is white and Smokey’s™ image is colored in khaki and browns. The ‘boose’ runs on Bettendorf trucks. In the early 1950s, the U.S. Forest Service used the image of Smokey Bear™ as a symbol of fire prevention. The 50-year old campaign has been very effective, turning the bear into an icon of forest preservation.
