Built May of 1930 by General American Tank Car Corporation, these 39' single dome tank cars are painted black and lettered in white. With a capacity of 134,320 pounds of water, these Tk-L cars are from a fleet of 100. One of the worlds most popular railways, the Santa Fe originated as an effort to lay iron along the Santa Fe trail to assist immigrants heading west. The line has long been characterized by famous slogans such as ‘Santa Fe All the Way’, ‘Route of the Warbonnets’, ‘America’s Longest Railway’. BN merged with Santa Fe on December 31, 1996, becoming BNSF.
Originally released as a 5-pack May 1980, MTL releases this 2 pack with changes made to reflect the prototype.
