Built in January of 1921 and repainted in April 2000, this Special Edition Smokey Bear Car is based on a 39' single door tank car. This maintenance of way car is painted red with side and end lettering in white. The multi-colored Smokey bear logo and lettering are variously rendered in khaki and browns. Smokey became an American icon as the symbol for a forest fire prevention campaign after the orphaned cub was found in the aftermath of a catastrophic fire in 1950
