This 50’ auto box car with double side doors, end door and roofwalk is painted freight car red with white lettering and white with black shadow logo. It was built in February 1946 and serviced with repacked journals on May 10, 1951. It travels on black Bettendorf trucks. Cars such as PRR 81906 were used to prevent in-transit damage from steam loco cinders, weather, and other damaging threats. As cars grew larger, so did the auto box car with bigger doors and finally ends door were built into the cars to accommodate the loading and unloading at various stops.
