Northern Pacific Road #NP 39610 50' Wagon Top Box Car w/Double Doors Part #MTL-79020 N Scale Supply Price: New Release: December 1999
NP #39610 is an ex-Norfolk and Western 50' wagon top box car with double doors, built in November of 1937, by Greenville Steel Car Co. of Pennsylvania. It was serviced and painted for the Northern Pacific in January, 1965, with a black roof, box car red sides and ends and white lettering. Though some cars rode on regular AAR standard trucks, most rode on 50-ton capacity trucks utilizing a combination of coil springs and an elliptic leaf spring. Other railroads purchased this style of car from the Pennsy or N&W and as a result, they became known across the nation. |
