Detroit & Mackinac Road #D&M 3440 50' Wagon Top Box Car w/Double Doors Part #MTL-79030 N Scale Supply Price: Sold Out New Release: January 2000
This 50' Wagon Top box car with double doors was built in October 1937 by Bethlehem Steel Car Company, and serviced and painted for the Detroit & Mackinac April of 1968 at the Tawas City shop. An ex-Detroit, Toledo & Ironton car, it is painted box car red and lettered in white on the sides and ends. Though some cars rode on regular AAR standard trucks, most of them rode on 50-ton capacity coil-elliptic trucks. The D&M was a 200-mile short line flanking scenic Lake Huron between Bay City and Cheboygan, Michigan. It later doubled in mileage by acquiring Penn Central track in the lower peninsula of Michigan. |
