Southern’s own shop built this 2 bay ACF center flow® covered hopper in February 1974. It was serviced in June 1984. The 3,300 cu ft, 20,000 lb capacity car rolls on Barber® roller bearing trucks and has four round input hatches on top and two gravity-feed discharge hatches below. It is painted light gray and has black lettering on sides and ends. These class LO hoppers are an improvement over older cylindrical style cars. They are more compact, and the vertically curved surfaces are designed to minimize voids (empty spaces) in fully loaded cars. The interior has no ledges or corners to restrict the flow of material during unloading and the lack of a center sill aids this end.
