American Car & Foundry built this 3 bay ACF Center Flow® covered hopper with elongated hatches in March 1980. It was painted light gray with black lettering. The 4,600 cu ft, 200,000 lb capacity hopper rolls on Barber® roller bearing trucks. The large MP herald consists of an eagle in flightsymbolizing strength and speedin front of the bright sun, which shines on the rich land the road serves. MoPac is, of course, a common nickname for Missouri Pacific. In 1870, MP began operations as a consolidation of small railroads. It continued merging with other lines until December 1982 when it became a part of Union Pacific.
