Built
in 1957, this 40 foot boxcar with Bettendorf trucks belonged to
series 19000-19249. It featured a striking black and yellow paint
scheme with a yellow sill stripe. The C&O was formed in 1869
in Virginia, and became a large Class I railroad on the East Coast,
headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1972, it became part of the
Chessie System, after merging with the B&O and Western Maryland.
After several more mergers, the heritage of C&O lives on today
as a part of CSX Transportation.
