This
40’ standard box car with single door and no roofwalk is green
with white lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Built in 1945
for New York Central, this 40’ boxcar was eventually sold to the
US Railway Equipment Company and rebuilt to modern standards,
including removing roofwalks and cutting down side ladders. It
was then leased back to NYC and painted into the Jade Green scheme
where it continued for another decade in revenue service.
