Built in 1941, this 50' gondola with Bettendorf
trucks was converted to a MOW wheel car in 1969 in a group of
nearly 50 cars. The C&O was formed in 1869 in Virginia, and
became a large Class I railroad on the East Coast, headquartered
in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1972, it became part of the Chessie System,
after merging with the B&O and Western Maryland. After several
more mergers, the heritage of C&O lives on today as a part
of CSX Transportation.
