This
60’8” Thrall® centerbeam flat car with roof truss load is
painted brown with white lettering. It was built in July 1978,
serviced in June 1998, and runs on Barber® Roller Bearing
trucks. Centerbeams (or center partition flat cars) are specialty
cars designed for carrying bundled building supplies such as
roof trusses, wallboard, and fence posts. They must be loaded
symmetrically, with half of the payload on one side of the centerbeam
and half on the other to avoid tipping over.
