This 50’
standard box car with single door and no roofwalk is blue with
black lettering and runs on Roller Bearing trucks. Built in
1958 by Pullman Standard, this car was painted in the Rock Island
“new image” blue scheme and lettered for “Ammunition Loading
Only.” The Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad was founded
in 1852 and by the 1970s had over 10,000 miles of track. It
entered multiple bankruptcies and failed buyouts in the 1970s,
and by 1980 was liquidated.
