This 50’
steel side, 14 panel, fixed end gondola with fishbelly sides is
black with white lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Built
in the mid-1940s, this 140,000-pound capacity car had a 1745 cubic-foot
capacity. Serviced in the 1950s, it continued in general service
through the 1980s. Central Railroad of New Jersey, known as the
“Jersey Central,” was a Class 1 railroad that operated nearly
700 miles of track until 1976 before being rolled into Conrail. |
