This
G-26-class 65’ mill gondola with Bettendorf trucks was designed
to haul finished structural steel shapes and other bulky loads,
and featured drop ends that allowed the gondola to carry loads
longer than the car. Pennsylvania was a large Class 1 railroad
formed in 1846 and grew to be a predominant shipper on the
east coast until 1968 when it merged with rival New York Central
to form Penn Central.
