This 83 heavyweight modernized
business car with balloon roof is tuscan red with buff lettering
and runs on 4-wheel passenger car trucks. Built in 1927 at the
Altoona shops as Class Z74D, this business car was upgraded in
1935 with ice-activated air conditioning and named Pennsylvania.
It went through several refits over the years and was eventually
upgraded with mechanical air conditioning, four staterooms, and
a stainless-steel kitchen to serve railroad President J.M. Symes.
This car also had the distinction of carrying the body of Robert
F. Kennedy from New York to Washington D.C. in 1968. |
