This
50 standard box car with 10 single door, no roofwalk
and short ladders is green with white lettering and runs on
Bettendorf trucks. This boxcar started out as a 40 car
and went through a rebuilding program at the Beech Grove Shops
to become 50 in length, as capacity demand increased in
the 1960s. New York Central merged with its rival, the Pennsylvania
Railroad, in 1968 to form Penn Central, which went bankrupt
two years later and was merged into Conrail in 1976.
