This
RBL-class insulated plug-door 50 boxcar with Roller Bearing
trucks was built in 1967 for Western Maryland. It featured a
Hydra-Cushion underframe, roller bearing trucks and load dividers.
It was repainted in 1977 at the Elkins Shop into the Chessie
scheme. Chessie System was formed through the 1972 mergers of
Chesapeake & Ohio, Baltimore & Ohio, and Western Maryland.
It remained one of the largest East coast railroads until 1986
when Seaboard System merged with Chessie to form todays
rail giant, CSX Transportation.
