Built
in the late 1950s by Great Northern, this 4,958 cubic foot
capacity double-door boxcar with Bettendorf trucks had a 50-ton
capacity. It was eventually transferred to Burlington Northern
and used through the 1980s before being retired. Burlington
Northern was formed through the mergers of Great Northern
and Northern Pacific in 1970, and then merged with ATSF in
1995 to form BNSF.
