Only one of the 5 Japanese midget subs that were attempting to penetrate Pearl Harbor on the morning of December 7th, 1941 survived almost intact. After the attack, the Type A, HA-19 was recovered on the beach east of Oahu, sent stateside and transported via rail across the US to help with the War Bond effort.
