These
flat cars have been specially modified to carry concrete railroad
ties in Maintenance of Way trains for Amtrak. The car has
a unique on-deck rail system to allow a gantry crane to traverse
the cars to unload ties trackside. Founded in 1971, Amtrak
is the largest North American passenger rail network serving
more than 500 destinations in 46 states across 600 miles of
track.
