Tourists
traveled to Yellowstone National Park on Union Pacific passenger
trains for more than 45 years. Along the way they traveled through
Island Park, a unique geographical region located along the Yellowstone
Branch in eastern Idaho. From the areas livestock and lumber
industry, to Railroad Ranch and its affiliation with the Harriman
family, to the Spring Campaign snowplow trains, the
Yellowstone Branch played a major role in the regions history.
Although the northern half of the branch line was later abandoned,
its route through Island Park is now a scenic year-around recreational
trail. |
