#40
was built in 1920 by Baldwin Locomotive Works in Eddystone, PA and
sent to Central America. Here it is steaming up the hill towards the
Devil's Gate loading platform. |
|
After
a lot of noise, all you can see is the smoke as the engine disappears
into the trees heading to Silver Plume. |
|
The
track loops around and gains about 100' in elevation before heading
out onto the Devil's Gate Bridge. |
|
It
was pouring rain and extremely windy. The guys in the cab were probably
comfortable with a huge fire feet away. The people in the cars were
getting drenched. Colorado weather in the summer, twenty minutes ago
it was nice, in another 20 minutes the sun will be shinning. But for
now I was completely soaked standing like a fool in the parking lot
with my camera. |
